How to identify Alcon Mono6 CAR97 brake caliper piston and seal diameter

How to identify Alcon Mono6 CAR97 brake caliper piston and seal diameter

The Alcon Mono6 calipers are available in various piston size configurations. To order the correct replacement/rebuild parts, you will need to identify the piston bore sizes. The part numbers on the caliper contain the relevant info for proper identification.

The part numbers are located on the underside of the caliper body, and/or the inner half of the caliper near the fluid inlet.

For example, the caliper in the below pics is a Mono6 caliper with ZG pistons:Alcon Mono6 CAR97 brake caliper part number identification

Common Mono6 caliper piston bore size:
ZG: 30.2/34.9/38.1mm
Y: 27/31.8/38.1mm

Depending on the production year/batch of the caliper, the location of the part number(s) may vary.

If there’s no part number visible on the caliper, you will need to measure the outside diameter of all pistons on one side of the caliper.
